Original coloured Pencil drawing. Two for Mirth 2021
Two for Mirth 2021
Description: "Two for Mirth" is a captivating piece drawn using lightfast professional coloured pencils on heavy watercolour paper.
The inspiration behind this piece was the origins of the nursery Rhyme 'One for sorrow'. We have long been superstitious about Magpies, with the bird being seen as a good or a bad omen, depending on how many are seen.
I took the name from the earliest version of the Rhyme, found in John Brand's, Observations on the Popular Antiquities of Great Britain, 1777.
One for sorrow,
Two for mirth,
Three for a funeral
And four for birth
Dimensions and Presentation:
